Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, The Human Resources Administrative Specialist will provide support to the daily operations of the human resources functions and duties, contributing to the accomplishment of HR section goals and objectives. Specific duties of the Administrative Specialist may include, but not be limited to, performing the following duties with little or no direct supervision:

  • Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • recruiting and staffing support, including conducting background checks
    • on-boarding new hires
    • compensation and benefits administration recordkeeping
    • employee health record keeping and administrative support
    • employee safety record keeping and administrative support
    • employee relations assistance
    • performance management tracking
    • staff member services, including but not limited to employee transportation options
    • random drug screenings
    • HRIS assistance
    • file maintenance, including electronic and hard copy data
    • Liaison with HPD (Houston Police Department) as needed
    • Ensures appropriate acquisition, operation, and maintenance of HFSC employee and intern access cards.
    • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as requested

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a job-related field. Equivalent experience specific to Human Resources may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • HR certification a plus

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable, relevant experience is required:
    • Experience must include progressive HR responsibilities
    • Experience must include administrative responsibilities
  • Demonstrated customer service experience is required
  • Working knowledge of the forensic industry a plus

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication is required
  • Demonstrated skill in using computers and related software applications: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point is required. Experience with HR/Payroll systems, specifically Paylocity, as well as other HR related systems, such as employee ID systems, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing work assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle conflict and uncertain situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with fellow employees, internal customers, and external customers
